Living with Water Veins -"Pulse Terrace," rice terraces regeneration architecture as a pulse that connects life and inherits the work of humans and nature-

a collaboration with Rui Sasahara, Wataru Horisaki

In Minakami Town, Gunma Prefecture, where satoyama culture and landscape are disappearing, we proposed "Pulse Terrace", an accommodation facility that combines a reed water purification function with a small hydroelectric power generation system in terraced rice fields that have been abandoned. The building consists of three overlapping layers: the contour of the existing terraced rice fields, the waterway for hydroelectric power generation, and the architectural plan. The complex space created through the renewal of the relationship between water, terraced rice paddies, and people is made apparent.
